CHRISTIAN

EDUCATION

Overview

The Christian Education committee (CEC) of Bethany Fellowship is tasked with planning and coordinating the activities that fall under the teaching and preaching ministry of the church, with special focus on Community Bible Hour (CBH), but not restricted to the CBH.   The CEC is made up of a minimum of three (3) persons, and is usually chaired by an elder, although there is no restriction on others chairing.  The plans of the CEC are informed by the strategic framework and overall focus of the church, as outlined by the elders; usually given at the beginning of each calendar year. The scope of the CEC does not usually extend to executing or operationalizing the details of the plans.

The scope of the CEC include:

  1. Decide on the focus for each month/quarter, in consultation and working in collaboration with other ministries, such as the Women, Men and Evangelism.

  2. Propose areas of focus for teaching across ministries, in the call to be relevant and responsive to the changes – political, social, economic … nationally and globally.

  3. Provide a summary of the intended outcomes from each area of focus.

  4. Help to identify speakers considered to fit with the topic/focus.
