WHAT IS THE MISSION OF COMPASSION?

The Mission of Compassion ("the Mission") is a humanitarian outreach ministry of Bethany Fellowship. It is a government registered and approved charity.  Its wide mandate spans activities for compassionate care in areas such as health, distribution of basic food, and relief of poverty for the indigent, elderly and children. It includes nurturing healthy family life, provision of religious instruction in Christian teachings, Biblical knowledge, prayer, evangelism and community development, support and service.

Our Lord Jesus Christ stated His mission in Luke 4:18 as one of bringing relief to human suffering in all its forms. He went on to live and to die in deep compassion for humanity. The scriptures teach that God is compassionate (e.g. Psalm 78: 38, 86: 15; Lamentations 3:22). Compassion is to feel deeply with others in their suffering. It is an inside "gut' feeling which moves a person to act. Our Lord told a story of a "good Samaritan" using his time, energy, and resources to rescue and care for a bleeding, dying traveler on the Jericho Road. Jesus then commanded His followers : "Go, and do the same".  This Mission is seeking to do so, but with limited resources and help. Compassion leads us to share the good news of salvation as we serve.

WHAT IS THE MISSION DOING ?

The current areas of the Mission's work are caring for the sick at medical clinics, distributing food  items to some children in need, supplying items of clean, used clothing to those who request them, and intermittently providing psychological support for family life. This work has been carried out by a team of volunteers since 1993 and you are welcome to join. The team believes showing compassion models the heart of God and opens hearts to Him. Our motto is "Willing hands ..... lovingly touching lives for God."

Our message is: "God loves you. He cares about the well-being of your body, mind and spirit, your family life, your relationships and He wants you to know Him through His Son, Jesus Christ."
